Been A While

So, its been a long time since I’ve wrote on my WordPress. Here’s what I’ve done for the past 6 (six)-7 (seven) months.

I’ve moved to Eskisehir, a city relatively close to Bilecik, to teach English and save some money. I thought at a private language school called Asem Kids. I’ve posted a bunch of pictures of me and my students on my Instagram (@turkdragon13). It was a great experience for me. I’ve learned how to teach small and large children classes. One of the hardest things to do was to teach the unwilling and uncooperative 8 (eight) year old students. The young children were extremely hard to control however it still was a great experience. I also gave private classes to university students and people in international business. The private lessons consist of practical speaking, everyday / casual conversation, and English in the Business World (Professional English).

When I first went to Eskisehir I lived in a neighborhood called “Adalar”, it translates to “The Islands”. Their is a very small creek like river that flows through the city and it is beautiful. There is walkways, cafes, and restaurants on both sides of the river. I lived right by the river for about 2 months with the view of the beautiful scenery right under my window. After 2 (months) I received news of one of my closest friends had moved into the city as well, and not that far from me. Since his apartment was right on the Bars Street, I did not hesitate to move in with him. I lived there for about 4 (four) months and now i have returned to the city of Bilecik.

This semester in school I want to concentrate on my school work. Besides from the school, I plan on starting a YouTube Chanel for Video Game Vlogging (Yes, it is spelled Vlogging | With 2 g’s | Source: The word Blog; Blogged, Blog, Blogging). First I plan on buying a good 720p web cam and a USB microphone to start recording on my HP G56. Through the course of 6 months I’ll (hopefully) be putting together a monster Desktop to Stream 4K. I will first start streaming MMORPG’s and MMO’s that are free-to-play (like Dofus and Fiesta Online). This is because my current hardware doesn’t support anything made after 2006 (sadly :’c ).

So this is currently what’s going on in my life. I’ve pushed away from Music and Dance until I have the funds I need to continue pursuing life with my passion.

Ali’s On The Move

Hey Guys,

About three days ago I stater a new project where I travel around Turkey and report the highlights of each city. Since I’m located in Bilecik, I thought why not start here! I started shooting footage at the local historical areas and Cafes. Today, I just want to talk about how one Cafe went out of their way for me to get the best service possible. They offered me their best foods, deserts, drinks, and hookahs. I could have wrote about any Cafe however this specific one presented me with one of the most amazing hookahs I’ve seen in my life. It’s called a natural hookah and the original one in Bilecik can only be found in Agrilion Cafe. They allowed me to record footage of it’s preparation and personally let me decide how the taste was. It was so fantastic that I had to write about it.

The natural hookah is prepared using apple (the fruit) based products. What do I mean about that? Well let me explain the process of making one.

First, the hookah machine is cleaned thoroughly with water and pressured air. Then it is apple “ification” time. The inside is rinsed out with apple juice. Next, instead of a traditional ceramic head, they carve out an apple and fill it with apple flavored Al-Fakher Shisha. Then, instead of a water tank as the base, they use a custom shaped carved out watermelon and fill it with apple juice. The whole smoking experience from start to finish is just incredible. It literally feels like smoking an apple.

Upon taking the first drag through the hookah you can completely feel the sensation of apple take over your body. I’ve been smoking it since I shot a vlog and until long after I upload this post. This is because they also use custom coal that doesn’t burn your throat, doesn’t give you a headache, and doesn’t upset your stomach. This has been the most incredible smoking experience of my life so far.

The presentation even looks amazing. They use a special hookah machine designed to give a natural look equivalent to the taste. Even the way they deliver it to your table is un-match-able to any other cafe.

If your way ever falls to Bilecik, I highly suggest you check out Agrilion Cafe for their Natural Hookah.

What I’ve Been Up To

In the past few I’ve researched everything I can on YouTube partnership and Google Analytics. I’ve monetized my videos and created the proper accounts needed. I’ve also been researching ways to spread word about my existence and my talents. I’ll soon (hopefully) be starting a Pod Cast. I’ve acquired the microphone setup and now have all the hardware needed. I am now only missing topics to discuss. I feel as if I’m taking on too many objectives at once. This gives me the same feeling I felt when I had all those unfinished quests on Skyrim. However, I am determined to go through with all of this. I guess only time will tell. Also, I want to remind everybody that Bilecik, Turkey is not exactly thee best place to try to expand your talents due to the fact that the city is so small and every resident is both close-minded as well as “old-school”. However, once again, I am determined to go through with this.

How To Dance

I am currently looking up how to do nice edits on videos. I’ve spent the last two weeks split between practice in both music and dance studio times, and searching how to shoot how to videos. I will start uploading how to dance videos on YouTube every week or every month. (Once a week or once a month). Looking forward to this new project. We aren’t that hopeful about the second stage of the competition as they have called at an inconvenient time for us. We might have to drop out of the competition. As there is no one to practice with I have been occupying most of my time with video editing software. Once I feel comfortable enough editing the videos to my liking I will start uploading them.

Update (August 10, 2015) : Well this project failed miserably. Maybe I’ll reboot when I have a better computer and camera.

Music

Today, I will be teaming up with a local musician to finish our new mix for the dance show. It’s tiring looking at a computer screen for 13 hours, but it’s gotta get done. RIght now I’m at the language school getting ready for class. One of my students here, in the class I’m about to attend, send me a birthday email. It felt great having having one of my students wish me a happy birthday.

There’s very little time for me to update my blog as often as I used to. I’ve also adapted to the social environment of Bilecik, Turkey, therefore I can’t quite tell you all how it feels to be a foreigner in Turkey. I no longer see myself as a foreigner, I see myself as a local. I’ve sort-of accepted Bilecik as my new home (that is until I move to Istanbul… whenever that is).

We will hopefully finish the track by dawn tomorrow and start working on a new choreography on Monday, I’ll keep you guys updated.

Logging In

I’m still having a little trouble logging in since my phone switch. Excuse me until I get adjusted to my new set up.

Today I’ll be meeting with some musicians and my dance partner to discuss how we will go on with the production of the show. We still have no choreography which is stressing me out. Also, I am writing this as I am sitting in my physics class, hoping to god I understand at least a microscopic bit of information. I am completely clueless in this class. I don’t think the professor understands the fact that I speak another language and have a hard time understanding the language he teaches. However, it can also be the fact that the professor really does not care about the education of the students. I think this because apparently no other student understood the test either.

New Phone

Before I start typing about all the stuff I’ve been doing lately, I want to apologize.I know I used to post everyday, and for the past couple of days I haven’t been able to access my WordPress account. I’ve purchased a new phone and my Authentication app was reset. Since I use various security measures on my WordPress, it was difficult for me to retrieve my info since everything was linked to my old phone. However, I’m back.

So… What have I been up to lately?

  • Joined the biggest talent based competition in Turkey
  • Working on near impossible projects (as usually)
  • Tried to cope with my failure in my Physics test

As you already know, I had to enter a physics test Monday. Although I worked hard for the test, I couldn’t answer a single question and the experience in attending school in a different language finally did some damage, a lot of damage. I was ready to drop out when my manager said hold your head up high and keep pushing.
Also, I have a chance to transfer some credits to Turkey, which require some financial input. I am currently occupying some of my time with that.

Some projects I am taking part in are extremely professional projects that are grabbing attention from some successful businessmen / businesswomen. I am slowly developing a fear of them expecting to much from the projects that are currently being worked on. When I catch myself over thinking about this specific topic, I have to take a moment and just assure myself that I’ve been a dancer for more than 10 (ten) years, I have to remind myself that I’ve excelled at numerous dance competitions, and that i already started and there’s no going back now.

We’re (my manager and I) still awaiting news from the TV Channel to get back to us for the dates of the competition. However, we have been assured multiple times by various parties including the TV Channel faculty that we will be partaking in the competition.

On other news, one of my students who keeps up to date with my blogs, was upset with me not being able to update it in the past few days. So to all those following my blog, I sincerely apologize. I’ve fixed my security issues and now will continue to update my blog daily.

Finally, I’ve started posting videos on my Vine and Instagram. You can find them at :

Mixed Feelings

When it comes to describe today, I guess I felt both the things and there opposites; scared and brave, excited and disappointed, cheerful and sorrowful, depressed and hopeful. lost but found. Let me explain why;
This morning I entered my physics exam and saw only 5 (five) questions on the test. Then, I immediately realized that I was not meant to be a student and should probably just jump out the window and save the teacher a paper to grade. All the questions were on the topics that I didn’t understand at all because not only is physics hard in English, it’s damn near impossible in Turkish. .After the test, my manager calmed me down, I decided to plan out the trip to Istanbul for wednesday. BTW (By the way), I got accepted into the talent contest and the company wants me to go to Istanbul to meet with everybody I’ll be competing against. After speaking to my manager and sponsor we’ve come to a conclusion that I need to spend the entire day tomorrow coming up with a brand new choreography to use for wednesday. Today, I was able to cut and slice the music and practice a little bit on my routine. Tomorrow, I will spend 6 (six) hours creating and practicing a routine to perfection.

Wish Me Luck.

Hectic

Today was hectic. I woke up early to study physics and get ready for the test tomorrow. After trying to decode the blurry notes a classmate sent me, I decided to visit the classmate and grab the tangible copy of the class notes. Immediately rushing back to study, I almost crashed into 3 (three) cars on my motorcycle. Fun. After studying and understanding simple physics of Scalar and Vectorial movement, I had to rush to the language school to teach English. Arriving perfectly on time, and out of breath, I realized that I had left my notes at home. However, I was able to continue with the class from memory. My first class was a bit routine, today we tried speed talking. I asked each one of my students a few questions at a normal / fast speaking pace, and they had to repeat every word they heard. Although this was a new activity for them, they were almost always correct with their answers. My class caught me by surprise. Their homework was to write down three questions and a few them wrote down pretty good questions for their English level. Also, I was surprised once again when one of my students told me “good luck on your test”. The student told me that she had been reading my blog. I have to say, that felt pretty awesome. 🙂

After the language school, I proceed to study more physics off my friends notes. Afters hours of confusion I gave up and decided to live my life as a homeless, unemployed, college drop-out. After the self hate, I decided to go home and update my blog. Once I finish this update, I will continue to scavenger across YouTube (Oytub) to find physics lessons and once again have a drop of hope of passing my class.

Keep in mind that not only is the topic of physics hard and extremely complicated for me, but also it’s taught in an other language. FML

Agreement

Today the dance studio, my manager, and I came to an agreement of using the dance studio 2 (two) times a week to work on my dance routine, which we (my manager and I) spent 30 (thirty) minutes in today for practice time (and a bit showing of showing off), for a contest I will hopefully be entering soon. The contest we are trying to get a spot in is the biggest talent contest in Turkey, “Yetenek Sizsiniz Turkiye”. If we can get a spot in this contest, many doors will open for us.
We were able to get the dance studio to sponsor us with costumes and studio usage privileges. This will be playing a huge factor in our projects due to financial freedom from our biggest expenses.

The second day at the language school wasn’t bad. The students still came to class with the willingness they had to learn English from two days ago, student like this is what inspires me to continue teaching. For the next class, I’m thinking of starting with basic dialogues and conversation. Hopefully after a few classes they will be able to write their own dialogues to play out in class.

Being in a new country that holds adventure everyday and being able to take part in life changing projects feel amazing. Hopefully we will start taking videos and uploading them so I can show all of you how well my dancing is.
